WHY I CHOOSE TO TRAIN AT F45

Working out regularly and consistently is very important to me.

I’ve written about it before, but exercising for me is what I use to manage my mental health issues, keep my anxiety at bay, and maintain a happy and healthy frame of mind. Anything extra that comes from exercising is just a bonus for me.

Ever since I can remember, I have played sport.

All throughout school I was a netballer, playing for my primary and high-school, as well as representative teams. I even headed over the New Zealand to play for a couple of weeks during Year 11 too!

When I tore my ACL in my left knee 5 years ago (playing netball), that’s when my netball career was put on hold. This was super hard for me as netball was all I had ever known!

However, throughout my post op recovery, I was encouraged by my physio to join a gym and use their facilities to build up the strength in my legs.

From there, I became a regular gym junkie, although I was never 100% driven, and my workout’s were never the best quality. This is mainly because I didn’t have a coach or trainer behind me encouraging me along the way, and showing me what exercises and program would work best for me.

A couple of years ago a friend and I joined CrossFit for a little while, just to see what the hype was all about. Whilst we enjoyed it, we found that it just wasn’t the right style of training for us long term.

Then, towards the end of last year I discovered F45, and haven’t looked back since…

F45 offer 45 minute high intensity circuit training. For 45 minutes, you are pushed to your limits through over 27 different styles of 45 minute workouts. Each F45 studio offers the same class at different times throughout the day, and every day throughout the week offers a different 45 minute workout.

And you never get the same workout twice.

For me, F45 was exactly the type of training that I needed. It combines a variety of cardiovascular, resistance and strength workouts that really do give you a whole body workout.

Restricting the training to only 45 minutes also means that you’re in and out in a flash, and aren’t wasting an hour or two at the gym, mucking around and only doing a few exercises.

F45 is primarily the reason why I cancelled my gym membership.

Why? Well essentially I wasn’t getting the results I was wanting at the gym, because I was wasting too much time doing the wrong types of exercises.

I am also a very time poor person, so dedicating 45 minutes to a fast and effective HIIT session at F45, is waaaaay more beneficial for me than spending 1.5 hours wandering around the gym, deciding what to work on and which piece of equipment to use.

I find that working out at F45 means that I don’t have to think about what my workout is for the day. I just go into class (usually still half asleep in the morning), and it’s all set out for me.

With F45 being one of the fastest growing network of fitness studios in the country, it’s easy to see why it is loved by so many.

It’s really the only gym that I have ever felt comfortable in. The workouts feature no power lifting or technical lifting, the facilities are highly systemised, featuring integrated technology in the form of video workout demonstrations, and the brand strives to be female-friendly.

You won’t ever go to an F45 studio and feel intimidated by those around you. All the studio’s are so welcoming and inviting, which makes it easier for you to focus on your training and fitness goals.
