By now you’ve all probably noticed that I am OBSESSED with denim jeans, shirts, vests – pretty much anything that is constructed from a sturdy cotton warp-faced textile and preferably in a blue shade.
As we move into winter in Australia, denim well and truly becomes a staple for me. Actually what am I saying? Denim is ALWAYS a staple for me!
I know I have written about these ‘how to wear denim’ tips before in other posts, but I’m writing them again because quite frequently I do get asked many questions about how best to style an all denim outfit:
– Make sure your proportions are right. It’s easy for a double denim outfit to look sloppy, so make sure that your proportions are 100% accurate. If you’ve opted for drop crutch pants, then wear a slightly fitted top. If you’re wearing a loose fitted top, then opt for skinny denim jeans.
– Always wear darker denim shades on the bottom half, and lighter denim shades on the top half. You can also wear a dark bottom half, light top and darker jacket.
– Don’t over fuss with accessories. I always opt for a minimalistic approach to styling, and therefore opt for black or nude accessories whenever I am styling with denim.
– For those trying the double denim look for the first time, test the waters by wearing a light chambray shirt with a really dark blue or black pair of jeans – this will create a cool contrast.
I know it’s one thing to give you tips on how to style denim, however it is ALOT harder to actually shop for denim, so here are 6 denim garments that I recommend you consider adding into your wardrobe.
