Whenever I am asked what my go-to outfit is, the answer is always denim!
Denim denim denim, I love it.
Some loathe it, other’s adore it (and I’m definitely on their side).
For me, and many others – denim is a staple in the wardrobe. It is most definitely my go-to texture to wear, both for work and play (or whenever I can get away with wearing it), and in whatever form it comes in.
To celebrate my love of denim, I have pulled together a double denim look featuring a couple of my favourite denim pieces sourced from Westfield Australia.
These pieces are current season, and are absolutely ideal for pairing together to pull off a simple off-duty, yet structured look.
This look features a dark chambray shirt with edgy ruffle detailing on the sleeves and back of the shirt (which I love), and is also the perfect length for tucking into high waisted jeans.
The shirt is the perfect dark denim shade, ideal for pairing with lighter bottoms.
The bottoms are a classic boyfriend style, in a lighter shade that is perfect for pairing with a darker shirt, or even a white t-shirt.
Shirts tucked in with this style of jean always look great too, as they have the perfect waist!
I know what some of you may be thinking – “I can’t pull that off”.
Well, let me tell you that yes, yes you can, and here’s how:
– Always wear either a darker denim shade on top, and a lighter shade on the bottom, or vice versa. This will ensure that you break the look up, and that the denim doesn’t wash you out.
– Don’t over do it with accessories. I always opt for a minimalist approach to styling, and therefore opt for black or nude accessories whenever I am styling with denim.
– For those trying the double denim look for the first time, test the waters by wearing a light chambray shirt with a really dark blue or black pair of jeans – this will create a cool contrast.
So, how do you style your denim pieces? I hope you’re rocking your individual style in whatever way you can!
