Hands up if you cannot bear to be back at work post holidays?

Yep, my hands up too…

Half of me is still dying to be in holiday mode, whilst the other half is tryyyyying to get organised and ramped up for the new year.

So, when an opportunity to have a weekend staycation at the Burbury Hotel & Apartments popped up, I really couldn’t resist. Why? Well it meant I could go back to being in holiday mode – that is, staying in a luxurious hotel, ordering room service, sleeping in, and being a tourist exploring my surroundings (even if it was in my own city).

And wow- what a treat the weekend was!

It started off with a beautiful high tea experience atop the Burbury Terrace, to celebrate the launch of their new high tea menu.

We (my Mum and I – a girl can’t go to high tea without her Mum!) were treated to a selection of delicious sandwiches, sweet treats, scones (with cream to die for) as well as Piper Heidsieck champagne and soothing green tea.

We also enjoyed the incredible views of Canberra that come with the high tea experience on the Burbury Terrace too!

Post our high tea treat, I then checked into the Burbury Hotel & Apartments for my weekend staycation, and it was here where the holiday mode kicked in…

Burbury Hotel & Apartments is located in the elegant suburb of Barton in the Realm Precinct, and is a contemporary 4.5 star property.

I was treated to a night in one of their glorious, and super comfortable Burbury Studio Apartments that feature a plush sized king bed, full kitchenette facilities, flat screen smart TV’s complete with FREE MOVIES, as well as other super modern and luxurious facilities.

The room itself was extremely spacious, and had a great view over the Realm Precinct and towards Telstra Tower. All in all it was a fantastic room, and the welcome treat upon arrival was an added bonus!

During our stay we took full advantage of the free on demand movies, the spacious and super comfortable king sized bed and the glorious view.

After checking in, having a sneaky lie down after consuming the delicious high tea feast, and a quick explore of the hotel; I headed down to Mudd the Spa for my Half Body Relaxation Massage.

To say that I was SO.READY for this would be an understatement.

Mudd the Spa is one of those Spa’s where you enter and instantly feel like you’re in a world of calm, where there is an opportunity for you to just let go and relax.

Now that I’m back doing my daily workouts, and sitting at my work desk everyday; my back was crying out for a little TLC.

This particular treatment was absolutely perfect for enhancing circulation and I most definitely fell asleep halfway through…

Two things that I always look for in a good massage is that the therapist:

a) listens to my pressure preference (medium, always) and;

b) has a calm, warm presence.

My therapist for this particular massage most definitely ticked these boxes!

For once in my life I didn’t whip out my phone to take any photos of the Spa, as I wanted to really practice a bit of mindfulness whilst I was there, so tried to be totally phone free!

You’ll all just have to check it out for yourselves, and I highly recommend that you do!

Post massage, my partner Sam met me back at the hotel, where we did a quick costume change and got ready for our much anticipated dinner at Lilotang! Eating here came highly recommended by a number of people, so it was a no brainer that I made a reservation here as quick as I could.

And it did not disappoint. Sam and I enjoyed a delicious Japanese feast, that included my favourite – edamame beans! The food was super fresh, and mouth watering.

After a glorious sleep in on Sunday morning, we woke up and tried to savor the extreme comfiness of the king sized bed, before we forced ourselves out of it, and headed down to Buvette for breakfast.

Having dined here for dinner a few times before, Sam and I both rate Buvette at the top of our favourite Canberra restaurants list mainly because of it’s pure and simple, no fuss food that also makes us feel like we’ve stepped foot into France!

Breakfast here was divine, and Sam most definitely took advantage of the all you can eat buffet features…

After breakfast we took a leisurely stroll around the precinct, and popped into an old favourite of mine, Maple + Clove for some takeaway juices!

I’ve always loved Maple + Clove for it’s wholesome and nourishing menu, and wished that we had more time to have lunch there.

When it was sadly time to head home, we packed up our room (surprisingly this took longer than expected as we had spread our things from one end to the other!), and travelled literally 10 minutes down the road – back home.

Gosh it helps when you live so close to your staycation destination!

Could you tell we loved our stay? Staycations are fantastic because they really do allow you to take some time out from your normal routine, just for a moment so you can relax and recharge.

The Realm Precinct has been designed to be just like a resort, fit with enough facilities so that you can enjoy an entire weekend there without having to step foot anywhere else!

A staycation here is highly recommended for anyone who for whatever reason doesn’t want to travel interstate, but still needs a break.

Have you recently had a staycation in your hometown? Recommend anywhere else I should stay?

* I was a guest of the Burbury Hotel, as well as Mudd the Spa and Buvette. We booked and paid for our dinner at Lilotang and treats from Maple + Clove.
