I love shopping (you wouldn’t have it guessed hey…)
Whilst I love both online shopping and shopping in a bricks and mortar store, theres just something SO euphoric about flicking through a stores clothing racks, having a browse, trying something on (loving it), and then making a purchase!
It’s even more exciting too when you know that you are making a purchase thats going to support a local business.
One such local business that I have supported for quite some time now and am so very excited to share with you all is Birdsnest!
Based both online (birdsnest.com.au) and down in Cooma NSW, Birdsnest’s mission is to solve women’s wardrobe dilemmas by providing personalised styling advice, express delivery, styled outfit inspiration, above-and-beyond customer service, no-hassle returns and a vast range of brands and sizes for all body shapes.
Birdsnest have a fantastically unique online and in-store shopping experience.
Online, the ability to shop by body shape, colour, personality and occasion, as well as being able to create your own style profile, receive personalised style recommendations, view items on a diverse range of model sizes and upgrade to a birdsnest changeroom is really just the tip of the iceberg!
Their flagship store in the country town of Cooma in the Snowy Mountains of NSW is next level in terms of customer service and shopping experience.
It all began back in 2000 when Birdsnest founder Jane Cay fell in love with a farmer, moved to Cooma, and her dreams of running her very own online store from the country began.
Her dream was to create a concept that had to provide something unique and inspire confidence in women like no other online store had yet delivered.
So, in combining her love for fashion, IT and all things girly – Birdsnest was born.
I was recently lucky enough to head down to the Birdsnest HQ and Cooma store, and experience firsthand their unique shopping experience.
What makes their shopping experience so popular with both locals and those travelling from interstate?
In store you will find a beautiful and curated selection of the latest items, however you can also access items from their entire website by using exciting new technology in store.
Whilst there are racks upon racks featuring Birdsnest stock – there are laptops located around the store in which you can use to browse the website and select which items you would like to be brought up from the warehouse, into the change room for you to TRY ON!
Yes, thats right. You can select anything you want to try on – as many items as you like!
Or, if you see something thats on the racks in store that you like, simply scan it with the scanners that are attached to the laptop’s and it will appear on screen and tell you if they have your size in stock!
Once you have selected everything you would like to try on, one of the beautiful birds down in the warehouse will bring it up to the change room for you.
On a TV screen located in the change room, you can monitor where your selected items are at – whether they’re being sourced, are ‘in-flight’ to the change room, or are there ready and waiting for you to try on.
You then have free range to try your items on, with the helpful store birds there to guide you and assist you along the way with sizing and style advice.
What I love about this in store experience is that you have the absolute freedom to try on as many items as you like before you commit to making a purchase.
For instance, if you find that you struggle with shopping for jeans online as you’re unsure of your sizing, this in store experience means that you can try them on before making the purchase either there, or later on via their website.
You can also shop online at home and choose ‘In Store Pick Up’ to have your selections waiting for you when you arrive at the store! Now isn’t that just the best sort of online shopping?
What I love most about this whole experience is that there is just so much variety both in store and online.
No matter your age, shape or size you are definitely bound to find something that fits you, and that you love and will want to wear!
