HOW TO SPEND A DAY AT NEXT GEN CANBERRA

Sponsored by Next Gen Canberra

I love a good health club.

A club where you can spend a few hours a day (or an entire day), swimming, exercising, socialising and dining.

Next Gen Canberra is one of these clubs – where you can do exactly that, and so SO much more.

Next Gen is a place that opens up a whole new world of health, lifestyle, wellness and relaxation – all in one.

So ideally, you could head here for an entire day and forget all about the world outside – perfect!

When you’re given the option to either workout, swim, sauna, play tennis, do a fitness class, or eat some delicious food – the decision is pretty hard to make. Take a look at ways to spend your day at Next Gen Canberra…

WORKOUT IN THE GYM

The open and super spacious gym features top-of-the-range Technogym cardio, resistance and functional training equipment.

This space is absolutely HUGE and has such a large range of equipment that it would honestly take a few hours just to explore each section and piece of equipment.

Highlights for me include a range of dedicated training spaces, extensive Technogym ARTIS cardio equipment, an Omnia functional training zone, and a really well equipped separate free weights area. Personal Trainers are also available on hand to tailor programmes to each member.

During my gym session I mainly stuck to the dedicated training spaces and focused on some boxing and weights work. What I really like about the Next Gen gym facilities is that they are so fresh and clean, and although the gym is only two years old, it feels like it was opened yesterday with how well kept the equipment and facilities are.

What I also like about this gym is that it is never crowded, as its large enough to fit everyone, and their workout needs. All of the trainers are super friendly, and always there if you need some assistance or guidance with your workout too.

SWIM IN THE OUTDOOR POOL

Now call me crazy, but I actually enjoy swimming in an outdoor pool when it’s cold outside.

I love the crispness of the air and water, and I also love that I always have the pool to myself as no one else is ever game enough to get into the cold water!

The outdoor pool at Next Gen (they have an indoor one too!) is ideal for warming up or cooling down before or after a workout.

Available for lap swimming and recreational use, both pools are heated and span for 25m.

SOAK UP WARMTH IN THE REGENERATION SPA

There is nothing better than a warm spa and sauna session after a dip in an outdoor pool, am I right?

The Next Gen regeneration spa is the perfect place to take some time to relax and unwind. The area showcases a regeneration spa, sauna, steam room and tropical shower. This is an adults only wet spa facility, and is absolute heaven.

What I really enjoy about this space is that it is so very tranquil, quiet and calm – and when the sun is setting outside, it really is the best place to unwind and let your thoughts go.

GRAB A DELICIOUS BITE TO EAT

The Next Gen Café is the perfect place to end your day with its healthy snacks, meals and treats that will most definitely cure your post workout hunger pains.

The café is available for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and is a large space also filled with desks and computes which you can use to catch up on some work – which is exactly what I did!

The Next Gen Café really is the hub of the health club, and a really good place to mix and mingle with other club members too. The members lounge also has a warm fireplace (perfect for winter!), and an outdoor terrace with sun lounges and shaded areas for those warmer summer days.

I really only scraped the surface with the things that I got up to during my day at Next Gen.

Other activities and facilities available include: tennis & squash, studio classes & personal training, as well as a nail spa and hairdresser on site, for days when you really want to pamper yourself.
